SUPPORTING GREENFIELD TOWNSHIP
PRESS: May 19, 2017
I would like to thank our residents and voters from the deepest part of my heart for supporting the Greenfield Township Fire Department. On the May 2, 2017 ballot we had a 1.5 mill permanent tax levy for the Greenfield Fire Department with your support has passed!! With this levy passing we will be able to hire 3 more full-time firefighters. We plan to start the process or scouting for the 3 best candidates through the remainder of this year and have everything set in place to hire those candidates around March 2018 when the new levy funding comes in and available for use.
Knowing that our community is standing beside us in support of us makes me very proud of what our members have done and continues to do to provide the best possible emergency services.
Please feel free to stop by the fire house to see the trucks and meet our staff. We always enjoy having visitors.
Sincerely Chief John Schwinne
MEET OUR NEW FIRE CHIEF JOHN SCHWINNE
PRESS: September 16, 2016
John Schwinne was recently hired as Greenfield Township Fire Chief. Here is some background that John has provided us:
"I started at Greenfield Township Fire Department in the Fall of 1997 as a Volunteer. In February 1998 I was moved to part-time. I lived in Columbus at that time, and I was still single . Working at an Electrical Engineering Company in Columbus during the day. After work, I drove to the Station in Carroll where I spent the nights taking runs. I would get up at 6 am and drive home to be at work by 8 am in Columbus. I did this for a several years, and in April of 2002, Greenfield Township tested for our first full-time Firefighters.I was proud to be one of the first hired. In April 2005, I was promoted to a Lieutenant, and in June 2010, I was again promoted to a Captain. Over the years I have seen this department grow, witnessed the potential it has, and felt blessed and honored to have been chosen to represent our Greenfield Township Fire Department."
