Greenfield Township is responsible for the following cemeteries:

Rules and Regulations

    1. Resale of cemetery lots is permitted.   The  sale price may not exceed the original purchase price.

    2. When a lot is sold or given to another owner, the Township Clerk must be notified in writing so that a new deed can be prepared and recorded.

    3. Burial vaults must be used. Plastic or fiberglass vaults are not permitted.

    4. Not more than two (2) crematory urns may be placed on one (1) burial lot. (Exceptions will be made for family catastrophe).

    5. Marker foundations must be installed by the Township Cemetery Department.

    6. Government provided headstones or markers may be used as a footstone or to supplement a private monument or be affixed to an existing inscribed monument.

    7. Artificial flowers or wreaths are not permitted after April 1 to October 1.

    8. Grave blankets must be removed by March 15, each year.

    9. Planting of trees or scrubs is not permitted and will be removed at the discretion of the Superintendent.

    10. Planting of annual or perennial flowers is permitted. Please plant flowers next to marker stones. Plants are to be maintained by the family and subject to removal by the Superintendent. Potted plants or cut flowers placed on graves are subject to removal by the Superintendent when or if they become unsightly.

    11. No Sunday or holiday burials.

    12. No single markers over 18” x 30”.

    13. No markers over 70% of grave width by 20” on larger graves.

    14. No dumping on cemetery grounds.

    15. Your cooperation with these rules allows the Township to provide both the care and maintenance you expect and safe working conditions for our employees.

Greenfield Cemetery

Sale of Lots. Lots can be sold to residents or non-residents of the Township according to the prices listed (Click price button).  Payment is to be made to Greenfield Township and will be due, in full, at the time of purchase.

Burials. Opening and closing of graves must be arranged through the Cemetery Office. Payment is due prior to interment. Interment fees are as follows: 

Footers. Concrete base for gravestones are required, and arrangements are to be made through the Township Cemetery Department. All headstones shall be placed at the head of the grave. All footstones shall be placed at the foot of the grave.

Cremain Urns. Urns for cremains shall not exceed 18” in height. Urns shall be the permanent type constructed of marble, manmade stone composition, bronze or steel. Pre-cast concrete urn vaults may be used with a temporary cardboard or plastic urn within, provided the outside dimension of the vault does not exceed 18 inches in height. Temporary type urns made of plastic, cardboard, wood or other similar material, may be used if there are no plans to relocate the cremains at a later date. Greenfield Township will not assume any responsibility for damage incurred while relocating an urn constructed of temporary type materials.

Flags. Flags will be placed on the graves of veterans by the Township during the week before Memorial Day and will be removed during the week following Labor Day.
